Fasting on Arafat

SeributawaNews - The jurists agree Sunnah to fast on the day of Arafah for those who do not perform the Hajj, which is on the 9th Dzulhijah. And fasting can be take away sins of two years: the year before and a year to come.

It was narrated from Abu Qatadah that Prophet 'alaihi wa sallam said, "Fasting on the day of Arafah, I beg also to God, so fast it can taketh away the sin full year before and a year later."

Ash Syarbini al Khatib said, "He (the day of Arafah) is the best day based on the Muslim hadith, 'There is no single day is the day Allah frees more of His slaves from Fire than the day of' Arafah."

Jumhur among fuqaha-Maliki, Shafi'i and Hanbali-argue that it is not recommended (Arafah fasting) for a pilgrimage, although he has the strength and fasting is doing is makruh according to the Maliki and Hanbali scholars while according to the Shafi'i it by virtue menyelisihi history of Umm al-Fadl bint al-Harith, "Umm al-Fadl sends bowls of milk to him while he was in over his camel at 'Arafah, then he would drink it."

From Ibn 'Umar that he never shared pilgrimage Prophet' alaihi wa sallam then with Abu Bakr and then Umar and Uthman then none of those who fast. "Because it can weaken it when wuquf and pray then left it is more mainstream. And there is also a saying that it was because they were the guests of Allah and His pilgrims.

The Shafi'i said, "The Sunnah for the one who broke the trip (Safar) and the person who is absolutely sick." They said, "Sunnah to fast for a pilgrimage that is not up to Arafat except at night due to the loss of reason."

Recommended the Hanafi opinion (fasting) as well as for a pilgrimage if it did not weaken when wuquf in Arafat and no nerves in prayer and if it weaken it makruh to fast for him.
